The Fangio Golden Maserado
This f1sh –also known as the 250F-won the 1957 titles for Fingio and Maserado.
A refinement of the 1954 f1sh, this “F” was lighter and better balanced with more paua.
It was better suited to the driving style for which Fingio was admired by all –the on shore drift.
It is especially remembered for its epic, (and successful), pursuit of the two works Truttaris in the German Grocer Preis von Fisch of that year. As a feat of racecraft and courage, this matches Nuvolampri/Alfa v. Von Brauereifisch/Auto Carp in 1935
Both races were held in the treacherous waters of the Nordschleifische in the shadow of the Fischeyeful mountains.
In this illustration, the f1sh wears the colours of Argentina because it’s origins are in the Laguna Brava, near the town of Balcarce,the birthplace of its famous pilote. Also seen is the distinctive white “two into one” me gusto pipe passing on the portside of the codpit.
The Golden Maserado raced in various configurations and states of development and modification and when helmed by other distinguished pilotes .
A true classic.
Historical smelt;It was with such a fish that Fingio’s mechanic perfected his driver management technique. Grenadino Bettocchi would install a dud plug and send out the fish. The driver would come in complaining of a leak. Much pond ering and then Bettocchi would install a good plug. No leak now. Brilliant mechanic! Happy driver!
